As much as we might be in denial that summer is ending, one of the best seasons to visit The Holladay House is upon us. This fall is a great time to gather up your girlfriends and spend a weekend together in the foothills. We have hosted countless girls’ weekends here (both with and without significant others in tow) so here are some ideas about how to make the most of your weekend.
Our rooms have everything you need to feel at home and it’s so fun to try and pick rooms based on each person’s personality. Did you know you can even rent out the entire Holladay House? This makes it a lot easier to include everyone you love in one weekend.
When you arrive, you can unwind with a glass of local Virginia wine on one of our two porches, or better yet, rent out the Ivy Suite or Holladay Hideaway Suite, which have private porches perfect for catching up with old friends. Then, you can head out to one of the many restaurants around town, like The Light Well or Forked on Main.
After a restful night’s sleep, wake up to a homemade, farm to fork breakfast. There’s a lot to do around town, so a good breakfast is the key to keeping your energy up. We are happy to help you plan an adventurous day, like golfing (check out the longest hole in the USA), kayaking on the Rapidan River, or hiking among the beautiful mountains for some leaf-peeping.
One of the most popular things that ladies do when they spend a weekend at The Holladay House is a wine tour. We can help you get a private car that will take you to visit some of the best wineries and breweries in the area. In the Fall, this is a must-do activity with your girlfriends because you get to take in all the foliage while trying Virginia wines among the mountains and vines.
The shopping around The Holladay House is also amazing with tons of specialty shops, boutiques, and high-end fashion. A shopping trip through Orange, Culpeper, and Gordonsville might just have you buying a new wardrobe, restyling your house, and purchasing gourmet snacks to share after dinner. Antiquing is particularly great in Orange and the high-end fashion and home goods can be found in Gordonsville. We will be happy to tell you the can’t miss shops when you’re here.
Before you wrap up your girls’ getaway, you can bond over a class of jam-making with BerryWood Farm Market. This will give you the perfect treat to take home and share with those of your friends and family that weren’t lucky enough to tag along on your weekend.
