We love nothing more than celebrations of love at the Holladay House. It’s why we always open our doors for a big Thanksgiving dinner, encourage family reunions, and have packages to help you have perfect special events. But one of our specialties, and our favorite type of events, are intimate weddings and elopements. We know it’s an uncertain time right now, but love isn’t canceled and there are still some meaningful ways to celebrate your marriage.
Shift Your Date
Change, especially when it is a mandate during your wedding planning, is not ideal. Under normal circumstances shifting your date could be a challenge. But now, shifting is encouraged and much easier. Many vendors are waiving change fees and grateful to you for not putting staff at risk. Plus, the sooner you shift, the more flexibility you have with getting your (next best) perfect date. Here’s a pro tip: do your research before shifting and make sure you know your contract inside and out, all of the public health guidelines, and build in some flexibility just in case there are any more unforeseen events.

Marry Now, Celebrate Later
Have you considered eloping? You can still have a perfect day and more importantly, get married! Many couples are choosing to elope and share an intimate day with their new spouse and only a few close friends or family. As is typical with many elopements, the larger celebration comes later. Eloping now and throwing a larger reception for your one-year anniversary might be a great option and give you something to look forward to, despite the challenging times. You can wear your dress twice, (or get two dresses, we don’t judge), have a more discretionary budget for items like food, drinks, and/or décor, and save yourself the stress of getting married and hosting a huge party the same day. Oh, and did we mention that we are elopement experts? We have all of the knowledge and resources to help you get married now and celebrate later.

Cherish Your Guests
A successful marriage is a union of two people that requires the love and support of a small army of loved ones. While your wedding day is about you, it’s also a great time to cherish your VIPs. Since we currently have to celebrate with smaller groups, it’s actually an ideal time to share your special day with just a few important people. Did you know that you can rent the entire Holladay House? That’s six rooms, especially for your army to help you get married! Changing your wedding plans doesn’t mean that you have to get married in isolation. Instead, you just have to pivot to an intimate group, which can offer even more opportunities for special celebrations.
Small, intimate weddings and elopements can be beautiful, thoughtful, and every bit as fun as larger ceremonies and receptions. If you choose to enlist our expertise, we can help you come up with creative ideas to make your day personal and memorable. For instance, we are surrounded by amazing breweries, wineries, and restaurants where you can rent space for a small group to celebrate with a customized menu and experience. We know some outstanding photographers, florists, and bakers who would love to share in your special day. In addition to the packages we already offer, we can customize something to your specific needs, wants, and dreams.
