Hot Air Ballooning: Take to the skies at a more leisurely pace with Monticello Country Ballooning or  Blue Ridge Balloon.

Hiking:  Montpelier’s 8+ miles of well-marked walking trails wind through horse pastures, wildflower meadows, and old-growth forests, with views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. "Loops" guide you through different trail hiking experiences. The Montpelier Trails are free and open to the public seven days a week during business hours.

Old Rag Mountain is a favorite of our guests!  Or try White Oak Canyon or Cedar Run for a different hiking experience plus a waterfall!

Biking:  Bring your bike and helmet, and we’ll get you in touch with an avid biker for routes.

Scenic Driving:  Skyline DriveBlue Ridge Parkway, and Route 231 all provide commanding views.

Horseback Riding:  Oakland Heights Farm will take you on a western-style trail ride, for all levels of riders.

Kayaking/Canoeing/Tubing: Guided kayaking or tubing down picturesque private sections of the Rapidan River with Beth at Rapidan River Kayaking - for amateurs and experts alike; Lake Pelham in Culpeper rents paddle boards, canoes and kayaks by the 1/2-hour or day!

Fishing: Lake Anna State Park, Lake Orange, Upper Rapidan, Lake Pelham

Hunting: Summerleas Farm Hunting Preserve
