Hot Air Balloon Ride Package
$850 for two people, plus tax
In 1784, Thomas Jefferson was profoundly interested in the great new technological innovation of hot air balloons. He believed the balloon would have many uses, including transporting goods, gathering military intelligence, and discovering the North Pole. Experience the same fascination and amazement that our eminent founding father felt, while flying over the same landscape in which he felt it!
A hot air balloon ride is an incredibly peaceful and gentle way to witness the beauty of Central Virginia. Trust us--we've flown a number of times ourselves and found the experience to be relaxing and breathtakingly beautiful. There is simply no better way to tour Virginia's gorgeous rolling hills and flowing rivers.
The Holladay House Bed and Breakfast has partnered with Monticello Country Ballooning to provide this amazing experience to our guests.
The Hot Air Balloon Package includes:
- 2 nights at our historic bed and breakfast, including a delicious breakfast each morning (if you are taking a sunrise flight, we will provide a breakfast-to-go).
- Hot Air Balloon Ride for two, either in the morning at sunrise or in the evening at sunset (flight time is about an hour, but the total event takes about 3 hours)
- A champagne toast (a long-standing ballooning tradition)
- Digital Photos taken by the ground crew (be sure to bring your own camera with extra batteries as well!)
- Local pick-up and transportation to and from the launch site
Naturally, hot air ballooning is subject to weather conditions. If your flight must be canceled due to weather, we'll do everything we can to reschedule your flight during your stay with us. However, if this is not possible, we will reduce your package cost accordingly. If you cancel your flight within 7 days of your hot air balloon flight reservation, the hot air balloon operator will charge you a cancelation fee of 50% of your total flight cost.

Scenic Biplane Flyover Package
$850 for two people, plus tax
Fly with John Corradi of Blue Ridge Biplane Rides in his open-cockpit 3-place 1942 Waco ZPF-7 for a breath-taking view of the Blue Ridge Mountains as you've never seen them before. Cross the mountains into the beautiful Shenandoah Valley and follow the Shenandoah River as it winds through the Valley. Then back across the mountains, flying over some of the prettiest scenery in the region - you'll definitely want to bring your camera for this flight!
The Scenic Biplane Flyover Package includes:
- 2 nights at our historic bed and breakfast, including a delicious breakfast each morning (if you are taking a sunrise flight, we will provide a breakfast-to-go).
- Biplane Ride for two, either in the morning at sunrise or in the evening at sunset (flight time is an hour, but the total event takes about 3 hours).
- Two white silk Aviator's scarves yours to keep - the perfect compliment to your flying attire and experience!
- Digital photos taken by John Corradi during his 13 years of flying!
- 10% active-duty military discount on the whole entire package - compliments of both Blue Ridge Biplane and the Holladay House!
Naturally, flying in an open-cockpit biplane is subject to weather conditions. If your flight must be canceled due to weather, we'll do everything we can to reschedule your flight during your stay with us. Sunset Kayaking Package
$550 for two people, plus tax
No experience necessary! Let American Canoe Association certified kayak instructor, Beth, teach you basic kayaking skills and lead you on a leisurely journey down the Rapidan River. As the sun sets, get a chance to view nesting eagles, great blue and green herons, otters, deer and other wildlife. This is also a unique way of viewing the flora and fauna of the region! The meandering river is mostly flat with mild rapids to test out your newfound kayaking skills.
We have partnered with Beth at Rapidan River Kayak Company to provide this special kayaking opportunity to our guests.
The Sunset Kayaking Package includes:
- 2 nights at our historic bed and breakfast, including a delicious breakfast each morning.
- 2 bottles of water and a snack pack for your trip!
- Guided sunset kayak ride for two, starting at 5pm, with all instruction and equipment provided for you.
Naturally, kayaking down the river is subject to weather conditions. If your kayak ride must be canceled due to weather, we'll do everything we can to reschedule during your stay with us. However, if this is not possible, we will reduce your package cost accordingly.
