In town, our guests enjoy walking to Taylor Park, art galleries, antique shops, restaurants, and the local farm stands. If you love history, a free guided walking tour of the Downtown Historic District, courtesy of the Holladay House's own certified tour guide may be of interest.

While exploring the area, tour Virginia wineries, experience the gourmet pleasures of fine local restaurants, or re-live the past at the area's plentiful historic sites.

Investigate the lives of President James Madison and Dolley Madison at James Madison's Montpelier, marvel at the architectural brilliance of Thomas Jefferson at Monticello and Barboursville, and learn about the influential President James Monroe at Ash Lawn-Highland, his beautiful home. In addition, Virginia is in the midst of a statewide commemoration of the Sesquicentennial of the American Civil War.
